Black Velvet  is a song written by Canadian songwriters  Christopher Ward  and  David Tyson , recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter  Alannah Myles . It was released in December 1989 as one of four singles from Myles' 1989  eponymous album  from Atlantic Records. It became a number-one hit for two weeks on the  Billboard  Hot 100  charts in 1990 and reached number one on the  Album Rock Tracks  chart, as well as number ten in her native Canada and number two on the  UK Singles Chart . The song also reached number one in Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland and was a major success in several other countries. It contains blues verses with a  rock  chorus. When Will I Be Famous  is a song by British boy band  Bros . Written by  Nicky Graham  and  Tom Watkins , "When Will I Be Famous?" was released as a single on 16 November 1987, and peaked at number two on the  UK Singles Chart  and at number one on the Irish Single Chart, as well as reaching the top five in several other countries. "When Will I Be Famous?" would later appearing on their 1988 album  Push . In 1988-1989 it was used in an advert for  The Sunday Mirror . MICKEY: TONY BASIL

Mickey " is a 1981 song recorded by American singer and choreographer  Toni Basil  on her debut album  Word of Mouth . Written by  Mike Chapman  and  Nicky Chinn  as " Kitty ", it was first recorded by UK music group  Racey  during 1979, appearing on their debut album  Smash and Grab . Toni Basil changed the name from Kitty to Mickey to make the song about a man. The original Racey song did not include the famous "Oh Mickey, you're so fine, you're so fine, you blow my mind" chant, which Basil added. For years, it had been rumored that the name was changed to Mickey because Basil developed a crush on  the Monkees ' drummer and lead vocalist  Micky Dolenz , after meeting him on the set of their movie,  Head , for which she was the  choreographer ; however, this claim was denied by Basil, who has said she did not know Dolenz that well. " Thorn in My Side " is a 1986 song recorded by British  pop music  duo  Eurythmics . It was released as the second single from the duo's  Revenge  album. Written by band members  Annie Lennox  and  David A. Stewart , the song is a cast-off to an unfaithful lover. "Thorn in My Side" was produced by Stewart. Although the first single from  Revenge , " When Tomorrow Comes ", had barely reached the UK Top 30, "Thorn in My Side" became Eurythmics' ninth Top 10 single, reaching number 5 in the  British charts . To date, it is their last appearance in the UK Top 10. In the United States, the track stalled at number 68 on the  Billboard  Hot 100 .
