BAD ENGLISH: When i see you smile

Image
" When I See You Smile " is a song written by  Diane Warren  and performed by American-British  glam metal  band  Bad English . It was released in September 1989 as the second single taken from their  self-titled debut album  released in 1989. The  power ballad   is the band's most successful song, reaching number-one in both the U.S. and Canada In the video the band are performing on a stage, which contains close-up shots of its members. The footage was taken at one of their arena concerts. It shows  Jonathan Cain 's distinctive synthesizer opening and moves into the soft initial vocal work of  John Waite . The tempo picks up with  Deen Castronovo 's drum work and  Neal Schon 's trademark guitar during which Waite becomes more emphatic vocally; the song finishes with Waite's soft vocals. The video was directed by Jonathan Cain. LYRICS  Sometimes I wonder How I'd ever make it through, Through this world without havin...

BELFAST CHILD by Simple minds

Image
BELFAST CHILD by Simple minds This song was inspired by the 1987 Enniskillen bombing, when a bomb planted by the IRA exploded during a Remembrance Day service at Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, killing 11 people and injuring at least 63. Simple Minds lead singer Jim Kerr explained to Q magazine in 1989: "In the second part of 'Belfast Child' I'm trying to relate to people in Northern Ireland who've also lost loved ones. I'm trying to talk about the madness and sadness and emptiness. I'm not saying I have any pearls of wisdom, but I have a few questions to ask. When I'm asked on American TV who my heroes are, rather than saying Lou Reed or Bob Dylan or someone who goes without saying, I say there are these people called Amnesty International and what they are doing I think is rather heroic. It only takes about 30 seconds." The music is based on a traditional song alled "She Moved Through The Fair," which Jim Kerr hea...

I WANT THAT MAN by DEBBIE HARRY

Image
I WANT THAT MAN by DEBBIE HARRY another banging 80s music hit. This one is a personal favourite of mine. "I Want That Man" is a 1989 song recorded by the American singer Deborah Harry. The song was released as the lead single from her third solo album, Def, Dumb & Blonde and was the first record Harry released in which she reverted to using Deborah as her name instead of Debbie. It became a hit in several territories, reaching number two in Australia and on the US Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart. The single also became a top-twenty hit in Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Lyrics I wanna dance with Harry Dean Drive through Texas in a black limousine I want a piece of heaven before I die I wanna pair of pink high heels That catch the lights up on the Ferris wheel What I really want I just can't buy Here comes the twenty first century It's gonna be much better for a girl like me 'Cause I want everything I can But most of all I want that m...

THE BEST by TINA TURNER

Image
In 1989, American singer and songwriter  Tina Turner   released a cover version that became a highly successful single. It was included on her hit album   Foreign Affair . The saxophone solo on Turner's version is played by   Edgar Winter . It has become an icon of rugby league. The song title is often colloquially mis-cited as Simply the Best, reflecting a phrase in the chorus. This became so commonplace that the bracketed word 'Simply' was included in the titles for releases of some subsequent versions, and in the track listing for some Tina Turner compilation albums. Holly Knight told  Songfacts : 'The Best' is one of those rare gems that's a very positive love song, without being cheesy. — that's a tall order LYRICS  I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire You come to me, come to me wild and wild When you come to me Give me everything I need Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams Speak a language of love like you know what it mea...
